Erdogan: Türkiye Ready to Host Russia–Ukraine Peace Talks in Istanbul
President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reaffirmed Ankara’s readiness to host renewed peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul. The statement came from Türkiye's Directorate of Communications.

During the conversation, the two leaders discussed bilateral ties, as well as regional and global developments. Erdogan welcomed Putin’s initiative to restart direct talks with Ukraine from May 15 and emphasized that a “window of opportunity” has emerged for peace.
The Kremlin noted that Putin’s proposal for talks in Istanbul was discussed in detail, with Erdogan offering full support and readiness to facilitate the peace process.
The two presidents also touched on the recent Victory Day events in Moscow and ongoing strategic cooperation in trade, investment, and energy.
