
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in Myanmar. However, the tremors were felt in neighboring countries, including Bangladesh, India, Laos, and China, TuraNews.kz reports.
CNN reports that 12 minutes after the initial earthquake, a secondary tremor of magnitude 6.4 hit the area.
“We felt the ground shaking for about a minute. Then we rushed out of the building. We saw other people running out as well. It was sudden and intense,” said a resident of Myanmar’s capital, Yangon, who requested anonymity.
According to reports from the Associated Press, the tremors were also felt in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok.
The Associated Press also reports that, due to the earthquake, evacuation of residents from high-rise buildings began in Bangkok. The tremors reportedly lasted around 10 minutes.
Currently, there are no confirmed reports on the number of casualties or the extent of the damage caused.
