Over 20 Killed in Israeli Strike on Gaza Overnight

The attack came after the United Nations announced it would scale back humanitarian aid to Gaza following an Israeli strike that killed one of its staff members.

According to Palestinian doctors, the casualties include three children and their parents, who died when a strike hit their shelter near Khan Yunis. Nasser Hospital reported that, in addition to this family, four more bodies were recovered from two other strikes.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital confirmed the deaths of six people in three separate attacks, while the Awda Hospital reported that another three people were killed when a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp was hit.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that an Israeli strike on a residential building in Gaza City killed five people and injured 12 others.

UN and Red Cross Buildings Also Damaged

The UN announced it was reducing its staff in Gaza after Israeli tanks struck one of its buildings, killing one employee and injuring five others.

— Based on the information available, the strike was carried out by an Israeli tank, — UN Secretary-General’s spokesman Stéphane Dujarric stated.

He emphasized that the UN would not leave Gaza and that 13,000 staff members, mostly from the UN Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA, would continue their work.

Later, the Israeli military acknowledged that the Red Cross office had been mistakenly targeted, stating that soldiers had fired on the building after identifying a perceived threat from Palestinian militants.

— It was later found that this information was incorrect, — the Israeli military said, adding that the incident would be reviewed.

The death toll in Gaza has surpassed 50,000.
