Kazakh Foreign Minister Holds Series of Meetings During Official Visit to Japan

During his official visit to Japan, Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Murat Nurtleu, held meetings with Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi, Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Yoji Muto, and the Chairman of the Japan-Kazakhstan Parliamentary League of Friendship Toshiyaki Endo.

In the talks with Yoshimasa Hayashi, a wide range of current issues related to bilateral political and economic cooperation were discussed. Special attention was given to collaboration in the areas of transport and logistics, energy, and industry. Additionally, an exchange of views was held on key aspects of international and regional agendas.

“Japan is our reliable friend and a partner proven over time. Kazakhstan is committed to further developing an expanded strategic partnership with Japan, which serves the national interests of both countries,” emphasized the Kazakh Foreign Minister.

The discussions with Yoji Muto focused on the prospects of trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Japan. Murat Nurtleu highlighted the significant potential for expanding investment, scientific and technological cooperation, as well as joint projects in the field of decarbonization.

The parties noted mutual high interest in collaboration in critical metals, transport and logistics, and the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route. In this regard, the important coordinating role of the Joint Commission of the Government and Private Sectors of Kazakhstan and Japan on Economic Cooperation was emphasized. The commission’s meeting is proposed to be held later this year in Astana.

During the meeting with Toshiyaki Endo and members of the Japan-Kazakhstan Parliamentary League of Friendship, key aspects of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed, including the support of legislative bodies in the development of trade-economic relations and cultural-humanitarian projects.

The head of Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry highlighted the high level of trust between the two countries and expressed gratitude to the Japanese side for its active support in strengthening the strategic partnership.

Both parties confirmed their desire to further expand cooperation in all key areas, including innovative fields such as digitalization, AI, green economy, and more.
