Kyrgyzstan Plans New Transport Routes to Strengthen Links with Uzbekistan
The Kyrgyz government is set to implement several major transport projects in the coming years, including new railway lines and infrastructure upgrades. These initiatives are part of the country’s National Development Program until 2030.

Given Kyrgyzstan’s landlocked geography, the program emphasizes the importance of enhancing transport and logistics integration while diversifying trade routes. Limited infrastructure and weak international connectivity currently hinder the country’s trade potential and economic competitiveness.
A key project in the plan is the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, expected to boost the country’s transit capacity and improve regional trade links. Additionally, a new railway line between Batken and Kokand is set to create jobs and facilitate trade and transport.
The program also includes the modernization of Batken and Razzakov airports, the construction of an alternative Chatkal-Tashkent road, a new international airport, industrial zones, and a ski resort in Jalal-Abad.
