President Meets with Akim of Abai Region Berik Uali
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev heard a report on the socio-economic situation in the region and plans for the upcoming period.

The Akim reported on a detailed analysis of the regional budget’s expenditure and income. Based on the analysis, priority areas for further funding were identified, and optimized funds will primarily be directed toward addressing urgent issues.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed that 24 investment projects worth 2.2 trillion tenge have been developed for implementation by 2028, which will create over 8,000 jobs. It is expected that 6 of these projects will be implemented within this year.
Berik Uali informed the President about the state of social facilities and communal infrastructure in the region. In particular, in response to the population’s needs, plans are underway to build schools and kindergartens, modernize cultural and healthcare facilities. Additionally, one of the pressing tasks remains resolving the accumulated issues in the housing and utilities sector, especially in Semey.
As part of the national project “Comfortable School,” 5 facilities and a Palace of Schoolchildren are being constructed. Another bridge is being built over the Irtysh River, and design and estimate documentation is being developed for the reconstruction of the suspension bridge in the regional center. The construction of a bypass road around Semey is also being considered, which will help redistribute traffic flow and reduce the load on the suspension bridge.
The President emphasized that solving the socio-economic problems of the region would contribute to improving the well-being of the residents. He instructed the Akim to work together with the Government to find ways to accelerate the region’s development and systematically address urgent tasks.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the need for further measures to develop the manufacturing industry in the region, create new permanent jobs, improve the infrastructure, and develop the regional center. The President also stressed the importance of properly organizing the 180th-anniversary celebrations of the great Abai.
