Iğdır-Nakhchivan Natural Gas Pipeline Inauguration Ceremony Held

Türkiye has officially inaugurated the Iğdır-Nakhchivan natural gas pipeline, linking the energy networks of Türkiye and Azerbaijan. The ceremony was attended by Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Ilham Aliyev.

“This pipeline is a crucial part of our long-term energy strategy. The 80-kilometer line, built by Botaş, will supply Nakhchivan with gas for at least 30 years,” Erdoğan stated during the ceremony.

Aliyev highlighted that Azerbaijan and Türkiye continue to implement major energy projects, such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and TANAP pipelines. In 2023, Azerbaijan’s gas exports to Türkiye reached 25 billion cubic meters, with half of that volume destined for Türkiye.

The pipeline, stretching 97.5 km—80 km in Türkiye and 17.5 km in Azerbaijan—has a daily capacity of 2 million cubic meters of gas.

The project aims to enhance Nakhchivan’s energy security and reduce its dependence on alternative supply routes.
