Russians and Ukrainians learn Turkish in the same class

Russian and Ukrainian citizens are learning Turkish together in the language course opened by the Eurasian Leader Women's Culture and Social Assistance Association.

Established by Georgian foreign language instructor Salome Derme, the Eurasian Leader Women’s Culture and Social Assistance Association prepared a project for adults after the Turkish language course opened for the children of Ukrainian and Russian families settled in Izmir.

The president of the association, Salome Derme, said that they established their association in order to better integrate the foreigners who came to Izmir after the war between Russia and Ukraine into Turkish society.

Stating that the Turkish course for children continues, Derme stated that they opened a course for adults 1.5 months ago when demand came.

Stating that Russian and Ukrainian citizens learn Turkish in the same class side by side, Derme said, “This is a message to the world. Turkey is a country that it will help to restore peace.” she said.
