The choice of Tuesday is not random—according to sacred texts, the Almighty began the creation of the world on a Tuesday.
On the second “Fire Tuesday,” as well as on the day of the spring equinox, a purifying fire is lit. People jump over the flames while saying, “Let my troubles burn in this fire!”
It is believed that this ritual cleanses a person from the negativity of the past year and fills them with the energy of fire. The fire should not be extinguished—it must burn down to ashes, which are then discarded far from the home, symbolizing the removal of misfortunes and hardships.
In Azerbaijan, spring will officially arrive on March 20 at 13:01 Baku time, with Nowruz celebrations taking place on March 21.
