
According to Xinhua, Chairman of Tajikistan’s Central Commission for Elections and Referendums, Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda, announced the results during a press conference on Monday, presenting the nationwide voting data.
The Central Election Commission reported a voter turnout of 85.3%.
— The People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan received 51.9% of the votes, — stated Khudoyorzoda.
He noted that more than 2.4 million citizens cast their ballots in favor of the ruling party’s candidates.
As previously reported, on March 2, Tajikistan held elections for the Majlisi Namoyandagon (lower house of parliament), as well as legislative bodies at the regional, city, district, and village levels.
A total of 3,513 polling stations were set up across the country, with an additional 36 stations established in Tajikistan’s foreign missions in 28 countries. The elections were monitored by 229 international observers.
