Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan Cooperation Strengthens: Olzhas Bektenov’s Official Visit to Baku
Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov paid an official visit to Baku, where he was received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. During the meeting, he conveyed warm greetings from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

According to Primeminister.kz, the trust-based relationship between the two heads of state has elevated Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan cooperation to a new strategic level.
During intergovernmental talks with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov, the parties discussed trade and economic collaboration, transport and logistics cooperation, and cultural ties.
In 2024, trade turnover between the two countries reached $533 million. Kazakhstan is prepared to expand exports of 130 non-resource products to Azerbaijan, totaling over $340 million. Particular attention was given to transport and logistics, with cargo transit along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route increasing by 62% last year, reaching 4.5 million tons. The integration of the Digital Trade Corridor platform between the two countries’ rail networks has also been completed.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further increasing bilateral trade.
Following the talks, several agreements were signed, including a project for the design and construction of an underwater fiber-optic communication line between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. This initiative holds strategic importance for enhancing connectivity between Asia and Europe.
Additionally, cooperation in cultural and humanitarian spheres was discussed. Azerbaijan highly appreciated Kazakhstan’s contributions to the reconstruction of Karabakh.
