Uzbekistan Nominates Itself for a Non-Permanent Seat on the UN Security Council

Uzbekistan has officially nominated itself for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2035-2036 term.

According to Dunyo, a news agency under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uzbekistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov, addressed the Security Council session, outlining the ongoing reforms in the country.

He emphasized Tashkent’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and supporting Afghanistan’s economic development. Additionally, Lapasov stated that Uzbekistan is keen on working with the UN to combat drug trafficking, terrorism, and organized crime in the region.

At the end of his speech, he officially announced Uzbekistan’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2035-2036.
