Kazakh Delegation Explores Investment Opportunities in Türkiye’s Mersin Province

A delegation from Kazakhstan’s Zhambyl region, led by regional governor Yerbol Karashukeyev, participated in the Kazakhstan-Türkiye Investment Forum during their visit to Mersin province. The event provided a strategic platform for strengthening business ties and exploring new trade and investment opportunities between the two regions.

During the forum, Karashukeyev emphasized Türkiye’s growing interest in expanding its presence in Zhambyl. He outlined the region’s investment potential, highlighting its strategic location, abundant natural resources, and favorable climate for industries such as metallurgy, chemicals, and construction.

Kazakhstan is actively fostering a flexible investment policy, with major projects worth $7 billion set to be implemented over the next three years. Karashukeyev presented lucrative investment opportunities in key sectors, including agriculture, tourism, construction, mining, and manufacturing. He assured potential investors of government support, including preferential benefits and ready-to-use production facilities, with 40,000 square meters of industrial space nearing completion and an additional 100,000 square meters planned for this year.

Discussions also covered the ongoing nuclear power plant project in Mersin, which has contributed to economic growth and sectoral competitiveness. Turkish business representatives expressed a keen interest in joint ventures with Zhambyl, particularly in cement production, diesel fuel, solar panels, and agricultural processing.

Mersin Chamber of Commerce Vice President Mustafa Özdamar reaffirmed the province’s leadership in attracting investments and underscored its strong potential for collaboration with Kazakhstan. Mersin Deputy Governor İrfan Demiröz highlighted the historical and cultural ties between the two nations, emphasizing Türkiye’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Zhambyl.

Representatives from KAZAKH INVEST also participated in discussions, facilitating direct B2G meetings between the Zhambyl delegation and Mersin’s business community. The engagement opened new channels for trade and investment, solidifying the economic partnership between Kazakhstan and Türkiye.
