Uzbekistan May Join WTO in 2026

Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) could be approved in 2026.

According to Kazinform, this was announced by Azizbek Urunov, the Uzbek president’s special representative on WTO affairs.

— The decision is final, and 2026 is not far off, — Urunov wrote on his official social media account.

On February 18–19, the WTO General Council held a meeting where it was proposed to approve the accession of Uzbekistan, Ethiopia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina before the summit in Cameroon, scheduled for March 2025. Of the 26 member states that spoke, 16 supported Tashkent’s bid.

Once a full member, Uzbekistan will need to align its tax policies with WTO requirements.
