Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Israeli army would resume military operations in the Gaza Strip if Hamas did not return the captured prisoners by noon on Saturday, BBC reports.
— If Hamas does not return our prisoners by noon on Saturday, the agreement will be terminated, and the IDF will resume intense military action until Hamas is completely destroyed, — Netanyahu said after meeting with members of the military cabinet.
In addition, US President Donald Trump demanded that Hamas release all hostages by noon on Saturday, threatening that otherwise “real hell would begin.”
— Hamas understands what I mean, — he said.
A day earlier, militants said they were not fulfilling the terms of the ceasefire agreement with Israel and threatened to stop the next phase of releasing detained Israelis and exchanging them for Palestinian prisoners.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz commented on the Hamas statement.
Recall that last Saturday, as part of the ceasefire agreement, Hamas handed over three captured people to the Red Cross.
Thus, Hamas released 16 Israelis, 17 people remain in the hands of militants. According to Israeli data, eight of these 17 people died, that is, Israel is waiting for the release of nine more people.
Hamas was supposed to release three more Israelis this Saturday. In return, Israel was supposed to release a number of Palestinian prisoners.
