Uzbekistan’s gold and foreign exchange reserves reach record high
In January this year, Uzbekistan's international reserves and gold and foreign exchange fund grew and reached a record level.
As of February 1, the total value of assets in the reserve of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan reached 42.9 billion dollars. This is 1.72 million dollars (4.17%) more than in December 2024.
The value of gold stored in the Central Bank’s warehouses increased to 3.02 billion dollars and amounted to 35.06 billion dollars. This is the highest figure since 2013.
At the same time, the volume of gold in the country increased from 12.3 million (382.57 tons) to 12.6 million ounces (391.9 tons).
According to experts, the growth was facilitated by the increase in prices for precious metal in the world market.
Recall that in 11 months of 2023, Uzbekistan exported gold worth 8.15 billion dollars. This is 2.3 times more than in 2022, and, in turn, is a record figure.
