Nearly 45,000 Parents in Uzbekistan Held Accountable for Neglecting Child Rearing

Over the course of one year, Uzbek inspectors issued nearly 175,000 warning protocols to parents who failed to ensure their children attended school.

At the plenary session of the Uzbek Senate, a draft law aimed at preventing juvenile delinquency is under discussion, reports Kazinform agency.

During the session, Uzbekistan’s National Guard inspectors revealed that 44,450 administrative protocols were issued over the year for parents who failed to fulfill their duties in raising and educating their children.

It should be noted that, according to Uzbek law, parents who neglect child-rearing can face fines ranging from 1 to 5 basic calculation units (approximately 15,000 to 75,000 tenge).

Additionally, Uzbekistan may shorten prison sentences for those convicted for reading books, and new penalties have been introduced for those keeping wild animals.
