Central Bank of Uzbekistan Keeps Base Interest Rate at 13.5%

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has decided to maintain the base interest rate at 13.5%, according to the bank's latest announcement.

In a meeting held on January 23, 2025, the bank decided to tighten monetary policy to bring inflation down to the target rate of 5%. This decision aims to ensure price stability in the medium term.

“The Central Bank will monitor the formation of sufficiently tight monetary conditions to ensure a steady decline in inflation to 5% in the medium term,” the statement said.

Additionally, the bank warned that if demand in the economy and price pressures intensify beyond expectations, the monetary policy may be reviewed.

The next meeting of the Central Bank’s Board is scheduled for March 13, 2025.
