Number of Athletes Set to Participate in the IX Winter Asian Games Announced

The number of athletes set to take part in the IX Winter Asian Games in Harbin, China, has been revealed.

According to Zhang Haihua, Deputy Secretary-General of the Winter Asian Games Organizing Committee, Deputy Director of the Executive Committee, and Deputy Mayor of Harbin, this year’s event will be one of the most widely attended in the history of the Winter Asian Games. A total of 1,275 athletes from 34 countries and regions in Asia will compete, including 755 male and 520 female athletes.

Of these, 847 athletes (513 men, 334 women) will compete in ice sports, while 428 athletes (242 men, 186 women) will participate in snow sports.

Zhang Haihua also noted that the first competitions will kick off on February 3, with the first gold medalist to be crowned on February 8.

To recap, the IX Winter Asian Games will take place from February 7 to 14, 2025, in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, People’s Republic of China. Athletes will compete in 11 sports, with 64 sets of medals up for grabs.
