Turkish Airlines Sets Guinness World Record for Number of Countries on Its Flight Map
Turkish national carrier Turkish Airlines has set a new world record – the airline flies to 120 countries , which was officially recognized by the Guinness Book of Records.
This record confirms the leadership of the airline, which has held the title of the carrier with the largest number of international destinations since 2012, TuraNews.kz reports, citing tourcode.kz.
The record was set based on the company’s active routes over the past 12 months. However, if we include temporarily suspended routes as well as a new flight to Chile, which was operated as part of the opening of the Santiago route, Turkish Airlines’ route network now covers 131 countries.
The Guinness World Records certificate presentation ceremony took place at Santiago’s Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport, where Turkish Airlines’ first flight to Chile was carried out. The company’s management and representatives of the Guinness World Records attended the ceremony.
“As the only airline to hold this award for more than a decade, we are proud to demonstrate the strength of our network and strengthen our mission to connect people, cultures and destinations around the world,” said Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Eki.
