Azerbaijan Ready to Aid Humanitarian Efforts in Syria, Says MFA
Azerbaijan has declared its readiness to contribute to addressing humanitarian challenges faced by the Syrian people, working alongside Türkiye and other international partners, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The statement emphasizes the need to restore peace and stability in Syria following the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime. It calls for an end to the ongoing civil conflict, expressing Azerbaijan’s support for Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The resolution of the crisis, it notes, should reflect the will of the Syrian people and be achieved through internal political dialogue.
“The Republic of Azerbaijan, together with the fraternal Republic of Türkiye and other like-minded countries, is prepared to assist in overcoming the humanitarian issues affecting the Syrian people,” the document states.
Azerbaijan also highlighted its continued efforts to repatriate Azerbaijani citizens from Syria via Türkiye, a process initiated in 2020.
The statement further conveys Azerbaijan’s hope for the stabilization of Syria, paving the way for the restoration of bilateral relations and the development of cooperation based on mutual friendship and partnership.
On December 10, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held discussions on the situation in Syria, particularly in light of recent developments following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, as reported by Azerbaijani media.
