The head of state emphasized that Kazakhstan has enshrined the obligations of subsoil users to comply with EITI requirements and to report taxes and other payments to the state budget at the legislative level.
President Tokayev informed Helen Clark about regulatory measures implemented in the field of geological exploration and production. These include the adoption of a Comprehensive Plan for the development of the industry, the launch of a Unified Subsoil Use Platform featuring an interactive map and over 50,000 geological reports, as well as the simplification of business processes related to obtaining licenses for exploration and production activities.
In response, Helen Clark outlined the EITI’s strategic plans and key priorities for the upcoming period. She also commended Kazakhstan for its efforts to improve legislation in the subsoil use sector, aligning with the organization’s transparency requirements.
