According to Yonhap News Agency, the request for such a ban came from the South Korean Corruption Investigation Division.
The head of the division, Prosecutor General Oh Dong-un, informed parliament during a hearing that investigators had issued instructions to restrict the president’s departure due to the recently implemented martial law.
Additionally, South Korean police are investigating a “rebellion case” related to the martial law imposed on December 4. As a result, they are considering imposing travel restrictions on the president. Moreover, Yoon Suk-yeol is under investigation for charges of treason and abuse of power. The police have not ruled out the possibility of summoning him for questioning.
