Uzbekistan Sees 34% Increase in Remittances Since the Start of the Year
From January to October this year, Uzbekistan received $12.6 billion in remittances from abroad, marking a 34% increase compared to the same period last year. Russia continues to lead as the primary sender.
In its report, the Central Bank noted that $9.8 billion, or 78% of the total remittances, came from Russia. This figure represents a 35% increase compared to last year.
The remainder of the remittances came from the following countries:
- Kazakhstan – $699 million
- United States – $470 million
- South Korea – $458 million
- Türkiye – $331 million
- United Kingdom – $109 million
- Other countries – $733 million
Experts attribute the rise in international remittances to Uzbekistan to an increase in economic activity and wages in key partner countries that host migrant workers, as well as to the diversification and growing flow of labor migration to developed countries.
