The Central Bank of Türkiye has taken several steps to prevent the circulation of counterfeit money in the country and to enhance coordination with law enforcement agencies conducting investigations into the issue.

In an official statement, the bank highlighted that special attention would be given to upgrading the equipment used for processing and verifying cash. These measures include the modernization of ATMs, cash counting machines, and banknote authentication devices.

The Central Bank also stated that all technical tools used within the country’s banking system will be brought in line with modern security standards to effectively detect fake currency.

Furthermore, the Central Bank has recently intensified its cooperation with law enforcement agencies investigating the distribution of counterfeit banknotes. Their joint efforts are aimed at identifying and blocking channels for the delivery of fake money into the country.

— In order to protect economic stability and prevent financial crimes, we must prevent the circulation of counterfeit foreign currency, — the bank emphasized.

Counterfeiting is a global issue. In countries like Türkiye, where foreign currencies, including the dollar and euro, are widely used, the fight against counterfeiting has become a critical aspect of maintaining economic stability.
