The topic of exporting Kyrgyz honey to the EU was discussed during a meeting between Bakyt Torobaev, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, and Dorogo Sandor, the Hungarian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan.
Representatives from Hungarian companies in the agricultural sector, including Agrofeed Rus Ltd, Babolna Tetra Ltd, Woodstock KFT, Fulmer Apiary, and others, also participated in the discussions.
The meeting covered the steps to export Kyrgyz honey to the European Union, along with the introduction of a system to monitor honey residue levels. The monitoring plan has already been sent to the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission, and it is anticipated that Kyrgyz honey will be included in the EU register in early 2025.
In addition to honey exports, the meeting also addressed the import of breeding livestock from Europe to Kyrgyzstan to enhance the country’s livestock breeding sector. An agreement for further cooperation with Hungarian companies was reached.
According to the National Statistical Committee, Kyrgyzstan exported 268.1 tons of honey from January to September of this year. The largest volumes were sent to the United Arab Emirates (61.3 tons) and China (60.7 tons).
