Magnitude-6.1 Offshore Earthquake Strikes Japan’s West Coast
A magnitude-6.1 earthquake occurs off the Noto Peninsula, Japan, at around 22:47 Nov. 26. No immediate reports of damage or injuries.
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of Japan on Tuesday, with its epicenter located 35 kilometers northwest of Hakui, reports the US Geological Survey.
Japanese news outlet NHK initially reported the tremor’s magnitude as 6.4. Despite the strength of the earthquake, authorities have confirmed there is no tsunami threat at this time.
