President Tokayev Meets Hungarian President Tamás Szujók at Sándor Palace
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held a formal meeting with Hungarian President Tamás Szujók at the historic Sándor Palace. The encounter, which included a working lunch, centered on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Following a joint photograph, President Tokayev signed the Book of Honored Guests, marking the significance of the visit, according to a report by Akorda.
During discussions, President Tokayev highlighted the deep-rooted ties between Kazakhstan and Hungary, built over three decades of diplomatic relations. He underscored the trustful political dialogue, robust economic collaboration, and close cultural connections shared by the “fraternal peoples.”
“Rooted in shared history and culture, Kazakhstan and Hungary enjoy strong bilateral relations. Thirty years ago, our first embassy in Europe was established in Budapest. Hungary was also among the first nations to recognize Kazakhstan’s independence. My state visit demonstrates our shared commitment to deepening our multifaceted cooperation,” said President Tokayev.
He emphasized the importance of expanding trade, economic, and investment partnerships, identifying key sectors such as energy, transport, logistics, metallurgy, renewable energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and the food industry as areas of mutual interest.
President Szujók reflected on the historical and cultural links between the two nations, despite their geographical distance.
“Kazakhstan, situated at the crossroads of the ancient Silk Road, leads economic development in Central Asia. Maintaining friendly relations is a priority for your nation, and you play a key role in ensuring peace and stability. Cultural ties between Hungary and Kazakhstan go back centuries. Interestingly, the name of Almaty resonates warmly with Hungarians, as ‘alma’ means apple in our language,” President Szujók remarked.
Both leaders stressed the importance of deepening cultural and humanitarian exchanges. They called for enhanced academic and scientific collaboration between leading universities in Kazakhstan and Hungary.
In addition, the two presidents exchanged views on pressing international issues and discussed cooperation through multilateral platforms, reaffirming their shared commitment to fostering peace and collaboration on the global stage.
