At the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in Baku from November 11 to 22, 2024, Kazakhstan is showcasing an extensive program that underscores its dedication to achieving climate goals.

A series of thematic sessions are being held at the Kazakhstan pavilion, focusing on critical issues such as food security and sustainable land management.

Murat Temirzhanov, Chairman of the Committee on Land Management (KUZR) of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, emphasized the importance of an integrated approach to addressing climate change and desertification. He explained that effective adaptation requires a combination of various measures, and the Committee is working on sustainable land management initiatives to strengthen the country’s food security.

Temirzhanov highlighted Kazakhstan’s participation in global efforts like the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and its ongoing projects in collaboration with international organizations aimed at rehabilitating degraded lands.

He added, “These measures not only help adapt to current environmental changes but also prevent future risks associated with land degradation and climate change.”

Kazakhstan’s comprehensive presentation at COP29 reflects its proactive stance in the global fight against climate change and its firm commitment to sustainable development.
