The announcement was made by Azamat Imashev, Deputy Chairman of the Sports and Physical Culture Committee of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, TuraNews.kz reports citing BasSport.kz.
The Kazakhstan team will include athletes competing in the following sports:
- Biathlon – 10 athletes
- Curling – 12 athletes
- Speed Skating – 20 athletes
- Figure Skating – 4 athletes
- Short Track – 12 athletes
- Cross-Country Skiing – 12 athletes
- Ice Hockey (Men) – 23 athletes
- Ice Hockey (Women) – 23 athletes
- Alpine Skiing – 8 athletes
- Freestyle Skiing – 7 athletes
Competitions in figure skating, ice hockey, and curling will take place in Harbin, while Yabuli will host events in cross-country skiing, biathlon, and alpine skiing. Athletes will compete for 50 sets of medals across various disciplines.
This year’s Winter Asian Games will feature 1,147 athletes from 32 countries, vying for 196 medals in 11 sports. Kazakhstan has been participating in the Winter Asian Games since 1996 and has won a total of 78 gold, 62 silver, and 56 bronze medals. At the 1996 Winter Asian Games in Harbin, Kazakhstan earned an impressive 14 gold, 9 silver, and 8 bronze medals.
