President and Vietnamese Politburo Member Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, to discuss the enhancement of Kazakh-Vietnamese relations.

President Tokayev noted the positive momentum in bilateral ties and fondly recalled his recent visit to Vietnam, which significantly advanced cooperation between the two nations.

Highlighting Vietnam as a key partner in Southeast Asia, President Tokayev emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to deepening collaboration, especially in trade, economic development, investment, and cultural exchanges. He also underscored the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties for legislative support of socio-economic growth in both countries.

Nguyen Xuan Thang affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to implementing high-level agreements reached during Tokayev’s visit, recognizing shared interests and cooperation in global platforms like the UN and CICA. The meeting also marked the signing of a cooperation memorandum between the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, aiming to promote joint research initiatives.

President Tokayev extended an invitation to Vietnamese President Luong Cuong to visit Kazakhstan next year, suggesting his participation in the Astana International Forum.
