Astana to Host 22nd International Meeting on Syria within Astana Process

Astana will host the 22nd international meeting on Syria as part of the Astana peace process on November 11-12, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

The event will feature both bilateral and trilateral consultations among delegations, followed by a plenary session. Key agenda topics include the regional situation surrounding Syria, progress toward a comprehensive settlement, on-ground developments, confidence-building measures—such as hostage release and search efforts for missing persons—and the humanitarian situation. Discussions will also address international efforts to support post-conflict reconstruction and prepare for the safe return of Syrian refugees.

Since 2017, Astana has hosted these meetings on Syria. Despite earlier announcements in June that Kazakhstan had fulfilled its role in facilitating the Astana process, the city continues to serve as a platform for dialogue on Syrian peace efforts.
