New Classification System for Accommodation Establishments in Kyrgyzstan

In Kyrgyzstan, a proposal has been made to introduce a new national system for classifying accommodation facilities.

The Ministry of Economy and Trade developed the corresponding decree, which is aimed at improving the standards and organization of the country’s tourism industry.

The new classification system would be voluntary and covers various types of accommodations, including hotels, guest houses, yurts, and sanatoriums. This system is designed to update the current criteria that have been in place since 1995 and align them more closely with global standards. The existing classification system is seen as outdated, given the changing market conditions and trends in Kyrgyzstan’s tourism sector.

The proposal includes a detailed classification for hotels, with 257 parameters divided into 23 categories, including factors like the building’s appearance and internet access. The Ministry has emphasized the need for an updated approach to improve the quality of services and guest experiences in Kyrgyzstan.
