Uzbekistan to Ban Animal Performances in Circuses Starting in 2025
A new law banning the use of animals in circus performances will take effect in Uzbekistan on January 1, 2025.
This legislation applies to both state-run and traveling circuses, aiming to protect animal rights and eliminate exploitation.
Additionally, a list of animals that private individuals are prohibited from keeping in captivity has been approved. Under this regulation, wild animals and certain insects may only be housed in zoos or nurseries operated by legal entities with authorization from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Ecology.
This move aligns with broader efforts to enhance animal welfare and ensure ethical treatment within the country.
