Earthquake Reported in Almaty and Surrounding Areas
On November 5, 2024, at 10:00 local time, an earthquake shook Almaty and the surrounding Almaty region. The Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed that seismic monitoring stations, operated by the National Center for Seismological Monitoring and Research, detected the earthquake at 10:01 Astana time.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located 33 kilometers east of Almaty, within Kazakhstan’s borders. The Ministry provided the following data on earthquake intensity, measured in points:

- Talgar: 4 points
- Esik: 4 points
- Turgen: 3 points
- Otegen-Batyr: 3 points
- Boraldai: 2 points
- Malovodnoye: 2 points
- Zh. Kaiypova: 2 points
- Alatau (Zhetigen): 2 points
- Karasai (Kaskelen): 2 points
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and so far, no significant damage has been reported.
