Turkic World Showcased at International Kurultai Festival in Romania with TURKSOY’s Support
The cultural richness of the Turkic world was on full display at the International Kurultai Festival held in Constanta, Romania, from September 27 to 29, 2024. The event, organized under the auspices of TURKSOY, became a vibrant celebration of Turkic heritage.
The festival was hosted by the Democratic Tatar Union of Romania, with support from the Romanian Ministry of Culture and the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO. TURKSOY’s contribution included a grand concert by the Turkic World Music Ensemble Otaq, featuring performances from artists representing Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and other Turkic countries. The musicians and dancers showcased traditional music and colorful dances, receiving warm applause and appreciation from the audience.
Dr. Javid Mövsümlü, Head of the Department for Relations with Turkic-Speaking Communities of TURKSOY, delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of Secretary General Sultan Rayev, wishing the participants success and presenting a commemorative gift to Naim Belgin, President of the Democratic Union of Tatars of Romania.
Naim Belgin expressed his gratitude to TURKSOY for its efforts in preserving and promoting Turkic culture, emphasizing the organization’s role in strengthening bonds between Turkic communities.
During the festival, the TURKSOY delegation also participated in cultural events and met with Constanta’s Mayor, Mihai Lupu. On behalf of TURKSOY, Mr. Mövsümlü thanked the mayor for his support and presented him with a special gift from Secretary General Sultan Rayev.
