President Tokayev Meets with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's official visit to Turkmenistan commenced with a meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty and national leader of the Turkmen people.

Upon his arrival at Ashgabat airport, Tokayev was greeted personally by Berdimuhamedov. An honor guard was assembled at the foot of the presidential plane, and the national anthems of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan were played.

During the meeting, President Tokayev expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and acknowledged Berdimuhamedov’s personal efforts in strengthening cooperation between the two nations. He emphasized that relations between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan continue to develop in a spirit of friendship, good neighborliness, and mutual support. Tokayev noted that his visit aims to elevate the partnership between the countries to a new level.

“We approach cooperation with Turkmenistan with great responsibility. We are strategic partners. Today, you mentioned the work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission. I have also reviewed its progress and directed the government on the necessary steps, as maintaining friendly relations with Turkmenistan is a priority for us,” Tokayev stated.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in turn, welcomed the President of Kazakhstan and expressed optimism that the agreements reached during Tokayev’s visit would further enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The meeting also included discussions on key issues related to political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian collaboration.
