Turkmenistan and EU Collaborate on Environmentally Friendly Transport Corridors

Turkmenistan and the European Union are working towards establishing new environmentally friendly transport corridors between Asia and Europe, capitalizing on Turkmenistan’s strategic geographical location.

This initiative was discussed during a meeting between EU Commissioner for International Cooperation Jutta Urpilainen and Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat, as reported by Trend news agency.

Urpilainen praised Turkmenistan’s role as a reliable transport link between Asia and Europe and highlighted the importance of creating sustainable transport routes. President Berdimuhamedov echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need to deepen cooperation with the EU in developing safe, efficient, and eco-friendly transport corridors to support sustainable economic and social growth.

Berdimuhamedov also expressed confidence in the potential of transport routes like the North-South and East-West corridors, viewing them as key trade links between Eurasian countries. He reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the European Union, aiming to enhance cooperation in the region.
