Over 420 Centenarians Reside in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan is home to 423 citizens who have reached the impressive age of 100 years or older.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the oldest among them, a woman from the Ulytau region, recently celebrated her 114th birthday.
The Turkestan region, in the southernmost part of the country, has the highest number of centenarians, with 64 residents aged 100 and above. Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city, ranks second with 48 centenarians, while the Almaty region comes third with 38 individuals in this age group.
Among Kazakhstan’s oldest citizens are a 114-year-old from the Ulytau region, a 112-year-old from Pavlodar, and a 110-year-old from Turkestan.
On October 1, Kazakhstan, along with the rest of the world, celebrates the International Day of Older Persons. This day, established by the United Nations in 1990, aims to honor the contributions of elderly people to society, raise awareness of their needs, and advocate for improving their quality of life. The celebration underscores the importance of showing respect and care for the elderly on both a national and global level.
