Kazakhstan Continues to Strengthen Partnerships with European Nations

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Roman Vasilenko, held a series of meetings with the ambassadors of Slovakia, the United Kingdom, and France to discuss ongoing collaborations and future opportunities for cooperation.

In talks with Slovakian Ambassador Robert Kirnag, both sides focused on political and economic developments, alongside potential projects in fields such as mechanical engineering and education. The meeting underscored the positive momentum in economic relations, with bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Slovakia rising by 13.3% in 2023 to $138.9 million, reflecting growing business interests in both countries.

During a separate meeting with British Ambassador Katie Leach, both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress in Kazakh-British relations. Vasilenko highlighted the comprehensive agenda of cooperation between Astana and London, particularly in trade, education, and international affairs. The diplomats also emphasized the importance of the recently signed Strategic Partnership Agreement between Kazakhstan and the UK, stressing the need for its swift ratification.

In addition, discussions touched upon collaboration on climate change and water resource management, areas where both countries have committed to enhancing joint efforts.

Vasilenko also met with French Ambassador Didier Canesse as he concluded his diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan. The Deputy Minister praised the growth of political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between Kazakhstan and France. He emphasized the importance of sustaining high-level visits and implementing agreements in areas such as investment, energy, agriculture, and education, all of which are critical to the partnership between the two nations.
