Election Campaign Begins in Azerbaijan

The election campaign in Azerbaijan has officially started and will continue for 23 days, ending on August 31 at 08:00.

The campaign is in preparation for the upcoming early parliamentary elections, which will take place on September 1, 2024.

As reported by the Report news agency, registered candidates, their representatives, and political parties can actively participate in the election campaign. This includes candidates who have received official approval, as well as political parties and their representatives.

Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, announced that 1,030 candidates have been registered so far. Among them, 305 candidates represent 25 political parties in Azerbaijan. In total, 459 individuals were nominated by these parties, with 305 gaining official registration.

This election comes after Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on June 28 to dissolve the 6th convocation of the Milli Majlis, leading to the early parliamentary elections. The previous parliamentary elections were held on February 9, 2020.
