Iran’s Non-Oil Trade with Turkmenistan Sees Growth
Iran's trade turnover with Turkmenistan reached approximately $156 million in the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 20 - July 21, 2024), marking a notable increase.
According to the Iranian Customs Administration, as reported by Trend news agency, this represents a 4% increase in value and a 6% increase in weight compared to the same period last year (March 21 – July 22, 2023).
During this period, Iran exported and imported a total of 447,000 tons of goods with Turkmenistan, valued at around $156 million. In contrast, the previous year’s trade turnover amounted to 422,000 tons worth $150 million.
The trade between Iran and Turkmenistan primarily involves agricultural, food, and industrial products. Key items include transformers, water conditioners, petrochemical products, petroleum coke, cotton, fabric, and various other goods.
This growth in trade turnover highlights the strengthening economic ties between Iran and Turkmenistan, as both countries continue to expand their exchange of goods beyond the oil sector.
