President of Turkmenistan Meets with Turkish Energy Minister to Discuss Strengthening Energy Ties

On Thursday, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, met with Türkiye's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, to discuss enhancing cooperation in the energy sector.

During the meeting, they talked about crucial topics such as the transportation of Turkmen gas to Türkiye and Europe, and the construction of a power plant on Turkmenistan’s Caspian Sea coast. President Berdimuhamedov expressed Turkmenistan’s willingness to continue collaborating with Türkiye in the energy field, emphasizing the longstanding relationship and mutual trust between the two nations.

The discussions also highlighted opportunities for Turkish companies to take part in developing several sectors in Turkmenistan, including fuel and energy, mining, transport and communications, agriculture, and investment.

President Berdimuhamedov pointed out that Türkiye is a major partner in Turkmenistan’s foreign trade and that there is significant potential for developing beneficial bilateral and regional relations, according to the Turkmen state agency.

A key part of the meeting was the review of documents signed in March, such as the “Declaration of Intent on Cooperation in the Field of Hydrocarbon Resources” and the “Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation on the Development of Partnership in the Field of Natural Gas.” These agreements form a vital legal foundation for further expanding collaboration in the oil and gas sectors, the report noted.
