Tajikistan to Launch Pilot Train on New Trade Route
Tajikistan is set to launch a pilot railway train along the China-Tajikistan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Turkey-Europe corridor. This move is part of the country’s broader strategy to enhance its role in regional trade and transportation.
The initiative follows discussions at high-level meetings between Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, where the importance of developing efficient transport corridors was emphasized. The pilot train is expected to provide valuable insights into the potential of this route and inform future transportation plans.
Tajikistan’s Ministry of Transport has also outlined ambitious plans to modernize the country’s rail infrastructure, including upgrading railway cars and locomotives, adopting digital technologies, and building new logistics centers. These efforts aim to increase the volume and quality of both freight and passenger transportation.
