UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres Visits Tashkent for High-Level Talks
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived in Tashkent on Sunday for an official visit. He was welcomed at Tashkent International Airport by Uzbekistan's Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and other officials, according to the Prime Minister's press secretary.
“Antonio Guterres arrived in our country on an official visit at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The distinguished guest was met at Tashkent International Airport by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and other officials,” the statement read.
Following a brief conversation, Guterres, accompanied by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, proceeded to his designated residence.
During his visit to Tashkent, Guterres will engage in high-level negotiations. The agenda includes discussions on expanding and strengthening Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the UN and its institutions, as well as addressing current global political issues and regional cooperation.
Guterres will be in the country from June 30 to July 1 for the official visit.
