Yulia Putintseva Secures Maiden Grass Title at WTA Birmingham
Yulia Putintseva celebrated a significant career milestone by clinching her first grass-court title at the WTA-250 tournament in Birmingham, UK.
The Kazakhstani tennis player triumphed over Australia’s Ayla Tomljanovic (ranked 190th in WTA) in the final, defeating her with a score of 6-1, 7-6 (10-8).
Notably, Putintseva staged an impressive comeback in the second set, rallying from a 3-5 deficit and saving two set points along the way.
This victory marks Putintseva’s third overall career title and her inaugural triumph on grass courts. As a result of this achievement, she will climb seven places in the world rankings to reach 34th position when the updated rankings are released on Monday, June 24th.
