Mazhilis Ratifies Agreement for Cultural Centers with China

The Mazhilis (lower house of the Parliament) has passed the Law "On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on the Mutual Establishment of Cultural Centers."

Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balaeva announced at the plenary meeting that this agreement is part of the Head of State’s policy to strengthen friendship and cooperation with China. One key initiative under this policy is the opening of cultural centers in Astana and Beijing.

The agreement was developed based on discussions between the leaders of Kazakhstan and China, aiming to establish cultural centers in both countries on equal terms. The goal is to foster friendly relations and enhance exchange and cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian fields.

These cultural centers will be non-profit organizations accredited by the sending party and will operate according to the laws of the host country. Each party will ensure free access to the cultural centers and participation in events held both inside and outside these centers.
