Following the success of the inaugural conference in June 2023 at the KNU venue, which attracted over 80 scientists from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan, it was decided to establish it as an annual event.
The conference is jointly organized by several institutions including the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Commission for the Development of Historical Science under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn, and various other academic and research bodies.
The conference aims to analyze historical, cultural, linguistic, socio-economic, and interethnic processes in Eurasia during the medieval period, with a focus on the formation and development of Turkic civilization. It will cover topics such as archaeological and written sources, the Turkic-Mongolian model of government, the influence of the Turkic-Mongolian factor on the development of state institutions in the Moscow State, and the role of the Great Silk Road in the history of Turkic peoples.
Languages of the conference include Kyrgyz, Turkic, Russian, and English. More than 30 renowned researchers from countries including Kazakhstan, Turkey, Russia, Mongolia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are expected to participate.
Kyrgyzstan will be represented by various universities and research centers apart from KNU, such as Kyrgyz State University named after Arabaev, Osh State University, Jalal-Abad State University named after B. Osmonov, and the Institute of History named after B. Zhamgyrchinova NAS KR.
The conference will feature sectional reports in four sections covering topics such as the heritage of Zhusup Balasagyn, political and socio-economic processes, ethnic and interethnic dynamics, and archaeological and ethnographic research.
Additionally, the conference will host an international symposium dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the prominent Uzbek orientalist Boru Akhmedov, as well as a round table focusing on Slavic-Turkic interaction in the media space of Greater Altai and Central Asia.
Given the ongoing integration processes in Central Asian countries, the study of the history and ethnopolitical dynamics of the Turkic world holds both theoretical and practical significance for fostering economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation among states.
