Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi Dies in Helicopter Crash

Ebrahim Raisi, the eighth president of Iran, tragically died in a helicopter crash in the Varzakan district of East Azerbaijan province, located in the northwest of the country.

Reports confirm that all passengers on board, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, East Azerbaijan governor Malek Rahmati, and Ayatollah Mohammed Ali Ale-Hashem, a representative of the leader of the Islamic Revolution in the province, also perished in the crash.

Media sources indicated that the helicopter carrying President Raisi was completely destroyed by fire following the crash.

On May 19, due to foggy conditions, a helicopter carrying the Iranian President made a hard landing in northern Iran’s East Azerbaijan region. The presidential motorcade consisted of three helicopters; while one crashed, the other two landed safely.
