President Tokayev Meets with Chairman of Eastern Committee of German Economy, Katrina Klaas-Mühlhäuser
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Katrina Klaas-Mühlhäuser, Chairman of the Board of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy and Supervisory Board Chairperson of the CLAAS Group. The discussions centered on enhancing economic collaboration between Kazakhstan and Germany.
President Tokayev highlighted Germany’s strategic importance as a partner within the European Union and noted the positive trajectory of trade and economic ties between the two nations. He underscored the increasing interest of German businesses in expanding their footprint in Kazakhstan, emphasizing that direct German investments surged by 64% last year, reaching a record high of $770 million.
The meeting delved into cooperation opportunities in the agricultural sector, with President Tokayev recalling his proposal to establish a Regional Center for Sustainable Agriculture. He expressed confidence that such a center would optimize Kazakhstan’s agricultural potential, facilitate the adoption of innovative technologies, and promote their commercialization.
President Tokayev also commended the contribution of the CLAAS assembly plant to Kazakhstan’s agricultural sector development, acknowledging its significant role in harnessing the country’s agricultural potential.
